Theo James & Shailene Woodley — Following reports about both actors’s unconfirmed return to the “Divergent” series, recent rumors claim that Theo James and Ruth Kearney have decided to set their wedding plans aside until the actor finishes filming for the upcoming “Ascendant” movie.
Whether or not these rumors reveal that James is indeed reprising his role as Four, despite Lionsgate’s plans to skip the fourth film’s theatrical release, remains to be unconfirmed. Since news about the rumored “Divergent” TV movie and spinoff series broke last week, Theo James has yet to issue a statement regarding the said controversy.
Unlike Theo James, other lead “Divergent” cast members, namely Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, have already spoken up about Lionsgate’s plan to skip “Ascendant’s” 2017 big screen release.
Ansel Elgort was promoting his new single “Home Alone” when he was interviewed about the popular movie series. “I don’t really know much about it to be honest,” Elgort told The Huffington Post (as per Entertainment Weekly). “I just heard about it a couple days ago.”
“I love Shailene [Woodley] and I love Theo [James] and everyone else in the cast,” he said. “I’ll miss [pause] we didn’t say our goodbyes because we were expecting to do another one together.”
Shailene Woodley, on the other hand, was promoting “Snowden” during the recent SDCC 2016, when she spoke about the controversy surrounding the final installment of the “Divergent” series. “Honestly, I was on a plane when all that happened, and I landed and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on?!’ ” she said. “I need to talk and find out what the details are.”
Meanwhile, a recent report from Master Herald cited rumors about the current status of James and Kearney’s engagement. Speculations suggest that the couple decided to let the “Divergent” series come to a close before they tie the knot.
James and Kearny reportedly wanted their marriage to be free from “complications” brought by rumors surrounding James and Woodley’s on-screen romance. But with the fate of the upcoming “Ascendant” movie still unconfirmed, it seems unlikely for James to make such a decision based on something that’s still unofficial.
